Policy

Privacy Policy

qrfreetool (“we”, “our”, or “the site”) is a browser-based toolkit for scanning and generating QR codes. This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use the site, what we store on your device, and what third‑party components are involved.

Because qrfreetool is built as a static website, the core features run inside your browser. In most cases, QR scanning and QR generation happen locally on your device. We designed the experience to be useful even when you reject cookies or when ads are disabled.

This policy is written to be clear and practical. If anything here is unclear, please contact us at umardrazpro@gmail.com.

1) What information we collect

qrfreetool does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide personal information to use the QR Scanner or QR Generator. The site can be used anonymously.

When you scan a QR code using the camera or image upload, the decoded content (for example a URL, Wi‑Fi payload, or text) is displayed to you on-screen. We do not intentionally transmit that content to a server as part of the site’s normal operation.

If you email us for support, you will voluntarily share the information you include in your message, such as your name, email address, device details, or screenshots. We use that information only to respond to your request.

2) Local storage: what we store on your device

qrfreetool uses browser local storage to remember two preferences: (a) your chosen theme (dark or light), and (b) your cookie/ads consent choice. These values remain on your device until you clear them using your browser settings.

We store these preferences to avoid repeatedly prompting you and to keep the UI consistent across pages. We do not store your scan history or the QR content you generate as a feature of the site.

If you prefer not to store these settings, you can use private browsing mode or clear site data. The tools will still work, but you may need to re-select your theme and consent choices.

3) Cookies and consent

qrfreetool includes ad placeholder areas (for example: header, in‑content, sidebar, and footer). These are placeholders only—no real ad network scripts are embedded by default.

To simulate a privacy-respecting approach, cookie preferences are only rendered/initialized after you click “Accept” on the cookie banner. If you click “Reject”, cookie preferences stay disabled. This mimics the behavior of consent-driven ad initialization used for compliance in many regions.

If you later change your mind, you can clear the local storage entry for consent in your browser settings, then reload the site to see the banner again.

4) Third-party tools and libraries

qrfreetool relies on reputable open-source libraries loaded via CDN to enable key features. The QR Scanner uses html5-qrcode for camera and image decoding. The QR Generator uses qr-code-styling to create high-quality QR codes with styling, logo embedding, and downloads.

These libraries run in your browser. However, loading a library from a CDN may cause your browser to make a network request to that CDN, which can expose standard technical metadata such as IP address, user agent, and request headers to the CDN provider.

We choose widely used, well-maintained libraries and keep the site static to reduce risk. If you are uncomfortable with CDN requests, you can self-host the library files on your own server by replacing the CDN script tags.

5) Analytics and tracking

qrfreetool does not include built-in analytics tracking scripts by default. We do not require logins, and we do not aim to identify individual users.

If you, as the site owner, choose to add analytics in the future, you should update this Privacy Policy accordingly. Consider privacy-friendly analytics options and avoid collecting unnecessary personal data.

6) Links you choose to open

Some QR codes decode to URLs or deep links. When you click “Open Link,” your browser will navigate to the destination website. That destination may have its own cookies, tracking, or privacy practices that are outside our control.

We recommend verifying a link before opening it—especially if the QR code was found in public. If the destination page asks for passwords, payments, or sensitive personal information, double-check the domain carefully.

7) Data security

We use best-effort security practices appropriate for a static website: minimal data collection, no account system, and no server-side storage of QR content by default.

That said, no website can guarantee absolute security. Your device, your browser extensions, or the network you use may affect privacy and safety. Keep your browser updated and avoid installing untrusted extensions.

8) Children’s privacy

qrfreetool is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us via email, contact us so we can address it appropriately.

9) Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect improvements to the site or changes to legal requirements. When we make changes, we will update the content on this page. Your continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.

10) Contact
